Griffin & Quill LLC is an edtech company in South Carolina. We help people learn something they can say out loud: what happened, why people disagreed, and which sources support a claim.

Griffin & Quill builds standards-aligned games and lessons where students play through the story, reason with real evidence, and prove what they learned, all designed by a working teacher to fit a real class period.
Founder
Ryan Mayer is a South Carolina high school social studies teacher. His social studies courses are U.S. History and the Constitution (USHC), Economics, AP Human Geography, and Government. He has taught social studies for more than seven years and holds a Master’s in History Education. He founded Griffin & Quill LLC.
In his own words, history too often feels like names and dates to memorize. He wants students to feel like they are stepping inside the story.
Values
Fairness to more than one view
When people in the past disagreed, we show more than one sourced view. A student can argue a view, and can change their mind when the evidence asks them to.
Accessibility
Clear language, keyboard use, and readable type on this site. Quillhaven will need captions and a way to play without a mouse. We are building toward WCAG AA. The games are not built yet, so this is not a finished audit.
So far

- Griffin & Quill LLC is formed. It is a South Carolina single-member LLC.
- Business bank accounts opened on October 12, 2026.
- A Tools Competition Phase I entry was submitted on October 12, 2026.
- An early playable prototype is in progress.
- An application to the South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA) is in progress.

The mark
The griffin-and-quill mark is the final logo: a white gryphon and a gold quill on navy. The header and footer use that file. The home hero uses the same mark with the navy field removed. The pixel-art Quillhaven logo is still a reserved slot. Tahne, Merlin, Professor Bramble, Winston Wolf, Brittany, Ruth, and Rudy, and the town buildings, appear as pixel sprites on the Quillhaven page. Professor Bramble is the highland cow librarian.
